GROWING IN CHRIST;

MAKING CHRIST KNOWN

It is so easy to be sidetracked from what you set out to do. The same is true for churches. The mission that Jesus gave us is fairly straightforward – ‘Go and make disciples of all nations’ (Matthew 28). So many things can take our focus off this mission. Here, at the Redlands, we don’t want to be sidetracked. We want to answer Jesus' call and do what he’s called us to do – make disciples.

In saying this, our mission is not simply to grow big. We’d love to see more people at church, but Jesus called on us to make ‘disciples’. This means followers are who growing in their understanding of what it means to be a Christian. We want to see people wholeheartedly committing to follow Jesus and taking up the call to be a ‘disciple’.

But it also means that we long to see more people know who Jesus is. We believe that Jesus alone saves us from sin and judgement. Therefore, we long for all people to come to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

As we’ve discussed what our mission is, we sought to reflect the Great Commission and put it in our own words. Our mission statement is simply:

Growing in Christ; Making Christ known.

That’s what we are on about.
